Business Tips: Don't get romantic about business!

Awesome Tip: Don't get romantic about business!

Just because you don’t like certain things about social, doesn’t mean you don’t have to use it. You’re going to become irrelevant!

This is a clip from Elevate NYC 2013 hosted by Bizbash and Eventbrite! Here’s the rest of my keynote:

Do you want to know how to grow your business? Stop being romantic. What you think is socially acceptable, proper or the way that it should be has absolutely nothing to do with the way you run or grow your business. Just because you don’t think it’s great that people are on their phone’s 20 hours a day, because you go out to dinner and you see a couple in the next table and say “look how sad it is, they’ve been on their phones the entire time”

Now are you still wondering how to grow your business? Only because you believe that and you don’t like it and you are afraid that your kids are watching youtube for 4 and a half hours a day, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean that is the way you should market your business. You are suppose to flip it and understand what is the reality of business. The quickest way to go out of business is to be romantic about how to grow your business and how to make money. I highly recommend all of you to figure out that we are in 2014 and if you as an event marketer are not storytelling on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram at this moment than you are not relevant to what is about to happen in the next 24 months.

  1. If the only goal of a business is to give profit to a person(or a group of course) while knowing the harms that it may cause on the socio-economic ecosystem then it lacks the the very ethical foundation of starting a business. For example : Its like selling Narcotic drugs (if at all it becomes legal) as it attracts a lot of money to the chain but completely ignoring the effect that it impose on the people.
Its 21st century….its time to be global and not just individual eccentric…..
